One important function of County Government is the appointment of citizens to various boards of organizations and entities which provide services to the citizens of Lee County. These appointments are required and/or authorized by State Law (Code of Alabama) or Local Laws (Acts of the State Legislature passed specifically for Lee County).
The County Commission has Board Appointment Policies and Procedures for general guidance of the appointment process to encourage and facilitate public participation.
Any citizen that is a resident of Lee County and a registered voter in Lee County interested in serving on a board is encouraged to fill out a Board Appointment Citizens Interest Form and mail the form to:

PLEASE NOTE: Some boards have additional requirements that a potential member must meet in order to serve as set forth by law (State and local) and/or Articles of Incorporation (if established). For example, a water board member must live in the service area of the water system.
