We currently have 3 Environmental Enforcement Officers who have completed the Alabama Police Officers Academy.  Officers have full arrest power and can enforce all state and local laws.

Officers enforce
-The Public Nuisance Regulation
-Monitor the 15 disposal sites for illegal dumping and issue citations as needed.
-Monitor licensed junkyards
-Patrol county road for Criminal Littering

Fines for illegal dumping could be up to $250 plus court costs.

C.A.R.E.

-Lee County is working to educate children in the Lee County School System about taking care of their community and not to litter.  The program is called Community Awareness Regarding the Environment.  The class is taught by one of the Enforcment Officers to reinforce the seriousness of the community's roll in taking care of their environment.  Coloring books, pencils, and stickers are also handed out.  For more information on classes contact: Officer Heather Norred at (334)703-0285.
