Solid Waste Disposal

Our department is staffed with approximately 30 employees.  The Solid Waste Department provides rural Lee County residents with access to garbage disposal services 7 days a week.  We ensure clean and user friendly disposal sites, and a professional staff of Solid Waste employees to assist our customers.  It is also important we provide a viable recycling program to reduce the waste stream in rural Lee County.

Solid Waste Enforcement Officers are scheduled 7 days a week to insure compliance with solid waste laws so Lee County becomes the best kept County in Alabama.

Animal Control

We provide efficient animal control to the citizens of rural Lee County to include all of Smiths Station and the parts of Phenix City, Auburn, Opelika, Loachapoka, Waverly and Notasugla which are not considered "City Limits".  Our Officers enforce the "Confinement Law" (owned dogs running at large), pick up stray dogs and respond to all bite calls.  It is our intent to respond to any call of a "suspected rabid" animal as we strive to lower the risk of rabies exposure.  All animals that we pick up with the exception of "suspected rabid" are taken to the Lee County Humane Society located on Ware Drive in Auburn.
