County utilizing solar panels to cut costs, help environment
In an effort to reduce costs and help the environment, the Lee County Commission has embarked on the first of many renewable energy projects with the installation of a 16.56 kW photovoltaic solar panel system at the T.K. Davis Justice Center Complex.
The solar panel system is the first of its kind at such a facility in the state of Alabama. A key component of the system is its expandability and the Commission hopes to expand the system to 150 kW ultimately reducing costs at the facility by a third.
Interested citizens can track the system's progress and receive live updates by following the Solar Project link on the left hand column on this site or by following the link on the Lee County Sheriff's site. For more information please contact Wendy Swann at 334-737-3674 or wswann@leeco.us.
