The Lee County Council (ACHR) Emergency Service Program is beginning its LIHEAP Cooling Assistance Program. An appointment must be made in order tos erve an individual from Lee County. To make an appointment, please call 334-821-8336 Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-Noon CST.

Walk-ins for ages 60 and over only are from 9-11:30 a.m. CST Mondays and Wednesdays in Opelika (behind Darden Head Start) and Tuesdays and Thursdays in Auburn (Boykin Community Center).

The office will be closed on July 3 and September 7.

Information that is needed if applying for Household includes:

• Previous month's income for entire household
• Social Security Cards for everyone in household
• Current Cooling Bill
• Public Housing/Section 8 Printout of Utility Allowance/Assistance
• Food Stamp recertification letter mailed form the State
• Pharmacy Printout if household has someone with medical condition
