How to File to Become a Notary Public
Filing Fee: $20.00
Prerequisite:
- Applicant must be a registered voter in Lee County.
Steps in obtaining a Notary Public certificate:
1. Complete Notary Public application (available in Probate Office).
2. Submit application to an insurance company to obtain a Notary Public Bond in the amount of $10,000.00.
3. Bring or send application, notary bond and $20.00 filing fee to Probate Judge's office. (BOND MUST BE SIGNED BY APPLICANT AND APPLICANT'S SIGNATURE MUST BE NOTARIZED.)
4. Bond will be recorded by the Probate Judge's office.
5. Notary Public certificate will be issued stating applicant's commission date and expiration date.
6. Applicant is responsible for acquiring their own notary seal.
