 You are eligible to register to vote if you are:
at least 18 years of age
a resident of Alabama
if you have been convicted of a felony, your civil rights must be restored and you must provide proof of such restoration
you must not have been legally declared "mentally incompetent" by a court
How do I register to Vote?
Registering to vote is a uniform procedure statewide. You must complete a State of Alabama Voter Registration Form or a National Voter Registration Application. Forms are accepted in person or by mail. You may also download the proper form from the Secretary of State's website and mail it in. When can I register to vote?
You can register to vote any time of the year except 10 days before an election.
Do I have to register by party?
No. Alabama is a non-partisan state. You do not have to register by party.
Do I have to register for each election?
No. As long as you do not move, your registration qualifies you to vote in all elections held in the precinct where you live.
What must I do if I move to another county within Alabama?
Complete a new voter registration application in person or by mail.
What should I do if I have changed my name or my local address since the last election?
You must inform the registrar's office in writing or in person.
Can I transfer my registration from another state?
No. To vote in Alabama, you must register to vote in Alabama. |
